This wonderful program will provide homemade fleece blankets to babies and children in the NICU and PICU.  Fleece blankets help provide a “secure” feeling to babies, especially premature babies, and are very soft and snuggly.  It is our goal to provide blankets to all babies in both units as well as children who are coming out of surgery.  Each blanket will be tied with a Brady’s Smile ribbon and will be forever the child’s blanket.  While Brady was in the hospital, we received a blanket from a ICU nurse which we used to bundle him up every night.  He truly seemed more comfortable in this type of material and he would grab the blanket and rub it against his cheek.  We are so happy to start this program with our partner hospitals and look forward to helping provide a little bit of comfort and reassurance in the lives of children who need it the most!
How YOU Can Help:
1)  Provide a monetary donation to Brady‘s Smile - Materials for each blanket ranges from approximately $5-15, depending on age of the child and size of the blanket.  You have the opportunity to donate specifically to the Brady Blankets Program by writing “Blankets” in the memo part of your check.
2) Donate a JoAnn Fabrics or another fabric store gift card to Brady's Smile.  Please send the gift card to P.O. Box 320921, Fairfield, CT 06825.
3)  Donate fleece material to Brady’s Smile to aid in the creation of future blankets.  Please ensure that the blanket fabric you purchase is approximately 60 inches wide and contains patterns appropriate for children.  Please send it to Brady’s Smile using the above address.
4)  Make your own Brady Blankets individually or host a Brady Blanket-making party!  This is our idea of a fun time!  We encourage all types of organizations and groups to throw a blanket-making party (e.g. Girl Scout Troops, Church Groups and all of our friends)!  You can either buy your own fleece and make your own unique blankets for the babies/children OR you can ask us to provide you with our materials and offer your time for making the blankets!  Currently, Brady’s Grammy (aka Gram-cakes) is the one and only maker of Brady Blankets.  She is great at making these blankets (and very fast), and we welcome any else who would like to make them!  For your convenience, we have included simple directions (double-click to open and print).  If you have additional questions, please reach out to Denise via email at denise@bradyssmile.org
