Crayons'n Care
Open to All Kids
Whoever said that the pen is mightier than the sword might have been onto something, but we at Brady's Smile believe that the power of the crayon trumps them both.  A child with a crayon not only has the ability to express their creativity and have fun, but also has the ability to an impact and add some color to the lives of children and families in need.

We received many gifts, cards and prayers while helping Brady recover from a failed kidney transplant in Pittsburgh and appreciated every one of them.  But without a doubt, the cards and pictures we received from school children around the country impacted us in ways words simply cannot describe.  Upon hearing about Brady's story, children quickly put together pictures and notes of encouragement that showed maturity beyond their years and a true passion and concern for one of their own - another child who instead of being in class with them was in a hospital trying to heal and strengthen.  It was truly an unforgettable moment for us and it is those memories that inspired us to create the “Crayons n’ Care” program:

The “Crayons n’ Care” effort is quite simple and aims to provide children and families in the ICU with drawings and notes of encouragement from children around the country. The details are as follows:

• Children of all ages are encouraged to help us out.
• All it takes is a box of crayons or markers, a piece of construction paper and child's imagination.
• This is an ongoing effort by Brady's Smile, Inc. We would love to receive pictures anytime throughout the year to include in our Brady's Smile Comfort Bags!
• Draw pictures that make you happy - smiles, rainbows, cars, pets - whatever! And depending on your age, include a brief personal message like "Get Well Soon" or "Stay Strong" or whatever else comes to mind.
• Drawings should be sent to Brady's Smile Inc, P.O. Box 320921, Fairfield, CT 06825.
• This is a perfect classroom exercise or project to do at home with you child an we hope that you will spread the word about it and get it into classrooms and youth groups (e.g., Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Little League Teams, etc).
• All drawings and messages of encouragement will then be included in our Brady's Smile Comfort Bags and distributed on a monthly basis to children in the ICU at one of our partnering hospitals: Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh (UPMC) and DuBois Regional Medical Center.
